Two years ago we - Robin and Martin - opened SUEDHANG's doors. It's time to pause for a moment and look back at what SUEDHANG actually is or has become.

First of all, we are a café in the heart of Tübingen - we see ourselves as part of the so-called 3rd Wave of Coffee. We love our open windows, we love hosting. We try to accompany our customers and encourage more and more vegan consumption.

Secondly, we are a roastery. Our passion is light roast coffee. We are keen to experiment, breaking new ground, for example with Canephora or drinks we have developed ourselves. We like to write articles and books on a wide variety of topics related to coffee. And we are happy when we can offer our customers and business partners a coffee that makes a difference. A difference that consists in the fact that drinking coffee is not an automatic act, but a conscious consumption. Even if that's a big word. It's about quality of life.

And – thirdly – we see ourselves as activists. For example, we are initiating a protest against the higher VAT on vegan milk alternatives. We don't give up and try to develop a regional solution for oat milk in reusable containers. We also see ourselves as radically transparent and publish our company data online. Because we want everyone to be able to see for themselves whether we meet the relevant ethical requirements. For responsible consumption. We don't just do all this for ourselves. We do it so that other companies can build on our ideas.
